Devlin rewarded Portsmouth’s aggressive start
The hosts played with greater intensity in the opening half and repeatedly attacked before Swansea could settle. Devlin broke the deadlock in the 36th minute after Odin Bailey supplied the final pass.

Portsmouth reached half-time with a deserved lead, but the margin remained narrow. Swansea kept enough possession to stay in the contest and waited for a chance to punish one defensive mistake.
A late penalty appeared to have changed the result
Swansea found their equaliser in the 85th minute when Zan Vipotnik converted from the spot. At that point the visitors looked capable of leaving Fratton Park with a draw despite spending long periods behind on the scoreboard.
Portsmouth did not lose their shape after the setback. They moved the ball forward quickly without turning every attack into a hopeful cross, and kept enough players around the area to collect the second ball.
Two added-time goals produced a memorable finish
The match was played on 3 November. Devlin restored the lead in the second minute of stoppage time, completing his second goal of the night, before substitute Thomas Waddingham made it 3-1 in the 98th minute.
The final score looks comfortable, but the sequence was anything but routine. Portsmouth earned the win by responding immediately after the equaliser and continuing to attack when protecting a point would have been the easier choice.
