Hibernian beat Hearts 2-1 at Hampden Park and advanced to the Scottish League Cup final. Martin Boyle equalised after Claudio Braga's early header before Jamie McGrath scored the winner late in the first half.

Hearts began quickly but could not protect the lead

Braga scored with a header from Calvin Miller’s corner after four minutes and gave Hearts the start they wanted. The same combination almost produced a second goal, although Tomas Magnusson sent his header narrowly wide.

Hibernian responded by attacking the space behind the Hearts defence. Boyle timed his run in the 19th minute, escaped the offside line and saw a deflected effort find the far corner.

McGrath completed the turnaround before half-time

The semi-final was played on 1 November. Beau Reus saved Joe Newell’s first shot in the 42nd minute, but McGrath collected the rebound and placed it into the bottom corner for 2-1.

Hearts increased the pressure after the interval. Raphael Sallinger saved from Braga and Sabri Guendouz, while Hibernian also threatened through Boyle and a Marko Ivezic header.

A controlled second half secured a place in the final

Hibernian did not need to dominate possession after taking the lead. The team protected central areas, dealt with crosses and retained enough counter-attacking threat to stop Hearts from committing every player forward.

The win was Hibernian’s first over their Edinburgh rivals at Hampden and ended a six-match run without a victory. They will face Rangers in the final on 13 December, while Hearts must turn their attention back to league and European duties.
