The story so far
William Nylander has 691 points from 750 NHL regular-season games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, a return split between 292 goals and 399 assists. The balance is instructive: as a forward he sets up more goals than he scores himself, and the output has held up over a long stretch in a demanding league.
His route to Toronto ran through Sweden: Södertälje sit alongside the Maple Leafs on his list of clubs, and his career dates from 2013. Toronto used the eighth pick of the 2014 draft on him. He shoots right and plays as a forward, represents Sweden internationally while holding Canadian nationality, and at 30 he is a settled part of the Leafs' attack.
