A left-shot centre whose feet and hands work at the same speed, Macklin Celebrini punishes teams that give him room through the middle. He arrives on pucks early, wins the inside lane and releases quickly, so the counter is to sit back, keep him to the outside and make somebody else carry the puck. He is a willing tracker, too, which means his shifts rarely leave San Jose defending odd-man rushes.

San Jose took him first overall in his draft year and he has played centre for the Sharks in the NHL since, with a career regular-season output of 178 points from seventy goals and one hundred and eight assists. Canada is his national team. He is twenty and shoots left.
