Jaren Jackson Jr. arrived in the NBA on draft night in 2018, when the Memphis Grizzlies used the fourth pick on a forward from Michigan State. That single college season in East Lansing sharpened the defensive instincts that now define him, and the jump to the professional game came quickly. He has since built a career on defence, becoming an All-Star and a Defensive Player of the Year. The next chapter places him with the Utah Jazz, where he can line up as either a power forward or a centre. Utah can use him at either frontcourt spot, with his value rooted in blocking shots and defending both positions. At twenty-six, his role with Utah is to anchor the defence.
