Giannis Antetokounmpo moved from Filathlitikos B.C. in Greece to the NBA when the Milwaukee Bucks selected him 15th overall in 2013. A Greek forward, he had turned professional in 2011 and spent the 2012/13 season in the Greek league before making the jump. His draft-night arrival was a first major step toward two MVP awards and the 2021 NBA championship.
The Greek forward plays power forward for Miami Heat and wears number seven. His 2.11-metre frame supports a game built on scoring and rim protection, leading to seven All-NBA First Team selections, the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year award, and four All-Defensive First Team appearances. He joined Miami in 2026 after thirteen seasons with Milwaukee, where a Finals MVP run delivered an NBA title.
