MotoGP has confirmed a 22-round calendar for 2027, with Buenos Aires joining the championship and the Australian Grand Prix moving from Phillip Island to Adelaide.
The schedule, released by MotoGP on 25 September, runs from 7 March to 28 November and covers 19 countries. It will also be the first calendar of MotoGP’s new 850cc technical era, according to The Race.
Thailand’s Buriram circuit will open the season on 7 March, while Valencia will again host the finale on 28 November. For British supporters, Silverstone is scheduled to stage the British Grand Prix on 15 August, immediately after the summer break.
Buenos Aires becomes round four
The Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires will host the Argentine Grand Prix on 11 April as round four. MotoGP said the event would mark its return to Argentina, with the capital-city circuit added after the championship visits Brazil at Goiânia on 4 April.
Autosport reported that MotoGP will return to Buenos Aires after almost three decades. The publication also said the addition, alongside Adelaide, comes as the 2027 calendar reaches 22 rounds across 19 countries.
The early part of the campaign begins with Thailand before Qatar at Lusail on 14 March. Brazil and Argentina then form a double-header, followed by the United States round at Austin on 25 April.
Qatar remains listed as round two, although Autosport reported that its position is sensitive to the wider situation in the Middle East. The outlet said the championship was awaiting clarification over the race planned there in the current season, after that event had been postponed because of the Iran war. MotoGP’s published 2027 schedule nevertheless places Lusail one week after Buriram.
Adelaide takes over Australia slot
The other new venue is the Adelaide Street Circuit, which will host round 21 on 14 November. MotoGP said South Australia’s event would be the penultimate Grand Prix of the season.
Autosport reported that Phillip Island will no longer stage the Australian Grand Prix, with Adelaide taking its place. The move gives the championship a new Australian setting late in a season which ends two weeks later in Valencia.
The final overseas run starts in Japan at Motegi on 17 October, followed by Malaysia at Sepang on 24 October and Indonesia at Mandalika on 31 October. Autosport described those three consecutive weekends as the only triple-header on the 2027 schedule, while also identifying five double-headers across the year.
Before that run, the European section includes Jerez, Le Mans, Mugello, Barcelona, Assen, Sachsenring and Brno before the summer pause. Silverstone restarts the championship on 15 August, followed by Austria, San Marino, Aragon and Portugal.
The published order places the British round between Brno on 18 July and Austria on 29 August. MotoGP’s calendar lists the Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimão on 3 October, before the championship moves to Motegi for the first of the final five rounds. That sequence means Adelaide follows the Japan-Malaysia-Indonesia run and precedes the Valencia finale.
The calendar’s five double-headers include the Brazil-Argentina pairing in April, while the Japan-Malaysia-Indonesia sequence is the only three-event run on consecutive weekends identified by Autosport. The schedule then has a gap between Indonesia on 31 October and Adelaide on 14 November, before Valencia closes the season a further two weeks later.
The calendar therefore combines established European rounds with two venue changes of particular significance: Buenos Aires expands MotoGP’s South American itinerary, while Adelaide becomes the championship’s Australian host. Adelaide and Valencia are the final two rounds on the published schedule.
