The Asian Le Mans Series has confirmed a capacity 47-car entry for its 2026/27 campaign, with two Ferrari 499Ps set to form a new Hypercar class and British team Garage 59 among a 29-car GT3 field.

The championship said the entry comprises 32 teams representing 16 nations. The field is split between two Hypercars, 16 LMP2 cars and 29 GT3 entries. Specialist outlet DailySportscar reported that the season will comprise six four-hour races across double-header weekends at Circuit Paul Ricard, Circuito de Jerez and Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.

That makes the entry list a significant early marker for a revised series format. A full grid alone cannot establish how close the racing will be, but the confirmed three-class structure gives the championship a defined entry base before the first event, although Hypercar begins with only two cars.

Two Ferrari 499Ps head new Hypercar class

The new top category will begin with two Ferrari 499Ps. Cetilar Racing will run the #47 car for Roberto Lacorte, Nicola Lacorte and Antonio Fuoco, while AF Corse will enter the #90 Ferrari for Luis Pérez Companc, Yifei Ye and Nicklas Nielsen.

The championship’s announcement described Fuoco, Ye and Nielsen as 24 Hours of Le Mans winners. DailySportscar reported that the Lacortes are a father-and-son pairing, adding a further distinguishing feature to Cetilar’s entry.

With only two cars confirmed in Hypercar, the class is markedly smaller than the other divisions. Its arrival puts two Ferrari 499Ps at the head of the new three-class entry. Any assessment of relative pace must wait until the cars run in competition.

LMP2 matches previous entry record

LMP2 has attracted 16 entries in an all-ORECA field. According to the championship, that matches the record-breaking class total from last season.

Reigning LMP2 champions CrowdStrike Racing by APR return with drivers’ champion George Kurtz as lead driver. Algarve Pro Racing, champions in 2024/25, will field two cars, while former class champions Nielsen Racing and DKR Engineering are also on the list.

Inter Europol Competition, identified by the championship as the reigning 24 Hours of Le Mans LMP2 winner, will bring two cars. DailySportscar reported that Nick Yelloly and current Formula 2 racer Cian Shields are named in the team’s #43 entry. United Autosports, AF Corse and Proton Competition will each run two LMP2 cars, with Team Virage, Duqueine Team and CLX Motorsport entering one apiece.

The category’s retained scale gives the series a large prototype contingent even as Hypercar begins with a pair of entries. The entry list confirms the return of several established teams across the category.

GT3 is the biggest section of the grid, with 29 cars representing Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. The championship listed seven Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVOs, six Porsche 911 GT3 R EVOs and five Ferrari 296 GT3 EVOs among the entries.

British team Garage 59 will field two McLaren 720S GT3s, with Tom Fleming named in the #58 car and Alexander West in the #60. The entry also includes a single BMW M4 GT3 EVO for Team WRT, four Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 EVOs and two examples each of the McLaren, Ford and Lamborghini contenders.

DailySportscar reported that the Ford Mustang GT3 EVO will make its Asian LMS debut, while the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 is set for its ACO-rules racing debut. Manthey returns with two Porsches, while AF Corse will run two Ferrari GT3 cars in addition to its Hypercar and LMP2 programmes.

LMP3 will not feature in the Asian Le Mans Series this season, according to DailySportscar. The outlet said an entry for a new Asian Le Mans Cup, intended to include LMP3 and additional GT3 machinery, would be confirmed separately. For the main series, the 47-car list now establishes the teams and manufacturers preparing to contest the three confirmed classes.
