Illes Balears Palma Futsal moved to the top of Liga Prime Futsal’s Torneo Apertura after beating Magna Xota 7-2 in Pamplona on 25 September, completing three wins from their opening three matches.
The official Liga Prime Futsal report said Palma took sole possession of first place after Barcelona drew 2-2 at home to Jimbee Cartagena Costa Cálida. Palma therefore maintained a perfect three-win start and moved into first place after the third round, with nine points from nine available.
Palma’s club said the result also ended its wait for a regular-season league victory in Pamplona, where it had not won since December 2022. The visitors established the outcome before half-time, building a four-goal advantage at Anaitasuna.
Four-goal first half sets Palma on course
According to the league, Charuto, Fabinho, Diego Nunes and Carlos Gómez punished errors by the home side as Palma went into the interval 4-0 ahead. Palma’s match report placed the goals in the seventh, 12th, 14th and 20th minutes respectively.
Charuto opened the scoring after meeting a Júlio Zanotto cross at the far post, Palma said. Fabinho then doubled the lead with a right-footed effort after a prolonged possession, before Diego Nunes capitalised on a turnover following a Xota kick-in. Carlos Gómez completed the first-half scoring from a set-piece.
The scale of that early lead was particularly significant in a fixture Palma described as demanding, given the club’s league record at the venue since December 2022. Rather than merely preserving a narrow advantage, Palma left Xota requiring a substantial recovery after the break.
Xota did make an early inroad. Iosu Mendive reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute, according to Palma, bringing the score to 4-1. However, the league report said Lucão, Piqueras and Charuto again subsequently restored Palma’s authority over the contest, while Joaquín added Xota’s late second.
Palma respond after Xota’s brief revival
Palma reported that Lucão scored in the 29th minute to halt the home side’s attempted comeback, with Piqueras adding a sixth goal six minutes from time. Xota then used five-player attacking play and Joaquín scored in the 38th minute, but Charuto completed the scoring at the end of the match for his second goal.
That sequence meant Palma answered Xota’s first goal with two further strikes before the home side scored again. The visitors’ response limited the practical effect of Mendive’s effort and ensured that the final margin reflected their control across the match, particularly during the opening 20 minutes.
The 7-2 result meant Palma had scored seven times in a single away match while maintaining its 100 per cent start. Liga Prime Futsal said the Mallorca side had added to its attacking figures and remained the competition’s leading scorers at that stage, although the report did not give a cumulative total.
Palma’s seven goals were shared among six scorers, with Charuto the only player to score twice. That spread gave further context to the league’s description of Palma as the division’s leading scorers after three rounds, while the available reports did not state the side’s overall total for the campaign.
Barcelona’s draw with Jimbee Cartagena Costa Cálida was decisive to the immediate table picture. The league said Barcelona had entered the evening competing with Palma for first place, but the draw at the Palau Blaugrana allowed Palma to take first place.
It remains an early-season position after only three Torneo Apertura rounds, but Palma’s margin of victory at Xota gave its perfect opening further weight. More immediately, the result combined a return to winning ways in Pamplona with clear leadership of the table rather than a shared lead.
