Illes Balears Palma Futsal will put their perfect Liga Prime Futsal Torneo Apertura start on the line when they host Servigroup Peñíscola in the fourth round, with coach Antonio Vadillo warning that the visitors represent a tougher test than their position in the table may indicate.
Palma have won all three of their opening league matches, beating Catgas Energía 4-2 away, ElPozo Murcia 8-3 at Son Moix and Xota 7-2 in Pamplona. The club said they had completed 120 minutes of competition without falling behind in a match.
That record makes Palma’s next assignment an opportunity to maintain their early pace, but the club’s pre-match assessments have placed greater emphasis on the standard of the opposition than on the hosts’ results to date. Vadillo reported that his players would need a complete performance against a Peñíscola team he regarded as well equipped to create difficult moments.
Vadillo identifies Peñíscola’s threats
Peñíscola arrive after a mixed opening three fixtures. They began with a 5-3 win away to Zaragoza, then lost 6-1 at Barcelona before drawing 3-3 at home to Valdepeñas, according to Palma’s match preview.
Vadillo said Peñíscola’s standing did not accurately reflect the level they had displayed. He described the Castellón side as a team with much of its established group retained from recent seasons, and pointed to its intensity, use of pivots, threat from the wings and danger from set plays.

Those elements provide the basis for Palma’s caution. The coach reported that the visitors could demand a high standard in several phases of the game, rather than presenting a fixture Palma could approach solely through the evidence of their own winning run.
Recent meetings at Son Moix also suggest that the sides have produced varied contests. Palma won the two most recent home encounters, 4-3 in 2025-26 and 5-2 in 2024-25, while the clubs drew 5-5 there in 2023-24. Palma’s account characterised those results as evidence that Peñíscola have remained uncomfortable opponents on the island.
Vadillo attributed Palma’s encouraging beginning in part to continuity from the previous campaign. He said the retained core had helped the group work effectively from the opening weeks, while a fully available squad had created strong competition in training.
However, he also reported that the team’s development would be tested when matches become difficult. Palma have identified their collective response under pressure as an area for continued work, with Vadillo saying the group must become mentally stronger in those situations.
Home fixtures offer Palma an early test
Palma player Ernesto reported that returning to Son Moix after three good performances made the Peñíscola match important for sustaining the team’s upward trajectory. He said the club faced three home league matches in its next four fixtures during October, giving the side a substantial spell in familiar surroundings.

Ernesto portrayed that schedule as a chance for Palma to keep progressing, but also indicated that home matches carry particular weight in the competition’s current format. His assessment was informed by the side’s view that it had let points slip in home games during the previous season.
The player also highlighted Palma’s squad depth as a significant feature of the opening weeks. He reported that having several options across almost every position increased the daily level of training and gave the coaching staff alternatives. That competition, alongside the group’s confidence, has been part of the club’s explanation for the three wins.
Palma nevertheless said there remains room for improvement individually and collectively. Vadillo similarly assessed that no player had yet reached maximum potential, framing that as scope for the team to raise its level rather than as a reason to relax after the opening results.
The immediate task is to convert that assessment into a fourth successive win. A victory would preserve Palma’s 100 per cent Apertura record; Peñíscola’s start, their recent results at Son Moix and Vadillo’s evaluation all point to a match Palma expect to be demanding.
