ACBF will travel to Umuarama for the first leg of the LNF Cresol pre-quarter-finals on Saturday 26 September, while Magnus have secured a direct place in the quarter-finals and are waiting to discover whether Pato or Corinthians will be their opponents.
The two developments set out contrasting routes through the Brazilian competition’s knockout bracket. ACBF and Umuarama must begin their elimination tie immediately, with recent meetings suggesting little has separated them. Magnus, by contrast, have avoided the round of 16 through their qualifying-phase finish, giving the club time to prepare while the identity of their next opponent remains unresolved.
The bracket offers a contrast in timing rather than an indication of likely results. ACBF and Umuarama have the first competitive task of the two strands covered here, and the league’s record of their latest fixtures supplies relevant but limited context for it. Magnus’s place has already been determined by the qualifying table, but their planning cannot yet be focused on one confirmed rival. The top-four reward removes one stage of knockout play while leaving a separate short-term question over the quarter-final pairing.
ACBF and Umuarama begin a finely balanced tie
Umuarama will host ACBF at Ginásio Amário Vieira da Costa in Umuarama (PR), with the match scheduled to start at 18:15. The LNF said LNFTV and Xsports would carry coverage of the opening leg.
The sides’ three most recent meetings, all in the competition’s first phase, provide a compact picture of the balance referred to by the league. ACBF won 3-1 on 6 July 2024, but Umuarama drew 2-2 on 25 July 2025. Their latest meeting, on 28 March this year, ended 3-3.
Those latter two results mean neither side has won either of the previous two encounters. That does not determine the outcome of the knockout meeting, but it gives the first leg a credible backdrop of closely contested recent fixtures rather than a one-sided head-to-head trend.
The LNF also recorded notable larger home victories from earlier seasons: ACBF’s biggest home win over Umuarama was 7-2 in 2015, while Umuarama’s biggest home win in the fixture was 3-0 in the 2023 season. The immediate significance, however, lies in the more recent run of one ACBF win and two draws as the clubs enter the pre-quarter-final stage.
For both teams, the match is the opening leg of the pre-quarter-final. The recent draws underline why the tie cannot reasonably be framed as settled by previous league-phase results.
Magnus await Pato or Corinthians after top-four finish
Magnus finished third in the LNF Cresol 2026 qualifying phase with 31 points from 15 matches. Their record comprised nine victories, four draws and two defeats, with 44 goals scored and 25 conceded.
That third-place finish delivered one of the top-four positions that take teams straight into the quarter-finals, bypassing the round of 16. Magnus will instead face the winner of Pato’s tie with Corinthians, whose first leg is on 28 September and whose return leg is scheduled for 3 October.
Ricardinho, Magnus’s coach, said the altered league format had produced close competition between teams and expressed hope that his side could progress to the semi-finals. Captain Leandro Lino said the squad had targeted a top-four placing from the start of the campaign specifically to avoid the round of 16, although he added that the team had wanted first place.
Lino also said Magnus were studying both possible opponents and using the additional period to work before the quarter-finals. That preparation window is the clear practical reward for their qualifying performance, although it comes with the uncertainty of having to plan for two different opponents until the Pato-Corinthians contest is decided.
The knockout picture is therefore becoming clearer in two different ways: ACBF and Umuarama have an immediate first-leg test shaped by recent draws, while Magnus have earned a later entry point but must wait for the final piece of their quarter-final route.
