Jaén Paraíso Interior moved level at the top of Liga Prime Futsal’s Torneo Apertura after beating Inter JP Financial 6-3 at the Olivo Arena on 26 September.
The third-round victory gave Jaén nine points from their opening three matches, matching Illes Balears Palma Futsal’s tally at the summit. It was a result built on a forceful second-half spell, in which João Salla, César Velasco and Míchel turned a level contest into a three-goal advantage.
Inter had recovered from an early setback to reach half-time at 1-1, but their assessment afterwards identified Jaén’s second goal as the moment that changed the direction of the match. Inter switched to game-of-five with 10 minutes left and Pani made it 4-2. He later scored again to reduce the margin to 5-3.
Inter point to decisive post-interval spell
Inter defender Raya said in the club’s post-match account that his side had started well, only for Jaén’s opening goal to provide a setback. He said Inter had managed to equalise and regain their footing before the interval.
However, Raya identified the 2-1 goal as a reality check for Inter. He said the subsequent second and third goals were not standards the team could permit at elite level, leaving them chasing the game from that point.
That view placed the emphasis on Inter’s loss of control after the break, rather than on the fact that they had initially responded to Mati Rosa’s opener. Raya said the team had been able to recover after falling behind, but the 2-1 and 3-1 goals left them pursuing a result from a much more difficult position.
Raya also said that the flying-goalkeeper approach can work on some occasions, while on others an opponent is more accurate in defence and the final margin becomes larger. In this match, Inter’s switch to game-of-five produced Pani’s first goal, but did not overturn Jaén’s advantage.
The league report recorded that Inter’s game-of-five move came with 10 minutes remaining, when Jaén were already 4-1 ahead. Pani’s two goals narrowed the deficit on two occasions, but the visitors did not draw level after the tactical change.
The defender’s assessment focused on the period after Inter had restored parity rather than on the opening score alone. Inter had gone into the break level, but the three-goal gap at 4-1 meant the visitors were required to pursue the game during its closing phase.
That explanation also sits alongside the league report’s description of early-season doubts for the Madrid side. Raya identified the 2-1 goal and the following goals as the period after which Inter were chasing the match.
Jaén turn a level match into a clear win
Mati Rosa gave Jaén the opening goal during a strong initial period from the home side. Inter were able to equalise through Javi Mínguez and, according to Liga Prime Futsal’s match report, also had an opportunity to take the lead before Espíndola denied them.
That chance meant the match had remained open before the interval. The official report said Jaén had started with considerable intensity, while Mínguez’s equaliser ensured Inter entered the second half level despite the home side’s early pressure.
Jaén then made their key move through long-range finishing. João Salla put the home side back in front and César Velasco extended the lead, before Míchel converted a penalty following a foul by Marvin. Those three goals established the 4-1 scoreline which framed Inter’s later attempt to reduce the deficit.
Esteban answered Pani’s first goal with a counterattacking lob for Jaén’s fifth. Pani scored again to make it 5-3, but Espíndola completed the scoring into an empty net for 6-3.
The official league report described the outcome as securing Jaén’s co-leadership of the table and characterised the performance as one of solidity from the Andalusian side. The table consequence is clear after three matches: Jaén have taken nine points and joined Palma at the summit, rather than trailing the leaders after the third Torneo Apertura round.
For Inter, the result followed what Raya described as an encouraging beginning and an equalising response before half-time. His assessment, however, centred on the post-interval concession of control, while Jaén’s second-half scoring run delivered both the win and a share of first place.
