BATTS finished the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Senior British Clubs League Premier Division at the top of the table, ahead of reigning champions Ormesby TTC on the better ‘sets for’ record after both clubs won all four of their matches.
Table Tennis England reported that the hosts recorded three 7-0 victories, against Nottingham TTC, North Ayrshire and Fusion, alongside a 4-3 success over eBaTT. Ormesby also began with four wins from four, including victories over DHS Hurricane Kingsway, Nottingham, eBaTT and North Ayrshire.
The early standings leave BATTS first and Ormesby second, with newly promoted DHS Hurricane Kingsway third after winning three of their four opening fixtures. The second weekend of the season is due to take place at North Ayrshire, Scotland, on Saturday 5 December.
BATTS build advantage through emphatic wins
BATTS opened their home weekend by beating newcomers Nottingham TTC 7-0. According to Table Tennis England, Edouard Valanet won twice on his debut, while Isaac Kingham’s 3-2 victory over Adam Dennison was the closest match of the tie.
The hosts then edged eBaTT 4-3 in a close contest. Kingham’s straight-sets victory over Leon Vlasov secured the team result within the first four matches, though Nahom Asgedom beat Valanet 3-0 and Max Radiven later defeated Kingham in a deciding set.
BATTS returned to more decisive form against North Ayrshire, winning 7-0. Abraham Sellado was taken to five sets by Martin Johnson in the second match, but the hosts did not concede a match in the fixture.
They concluded the weekend with another 7-0 result, this time against Fusion. Table Tennis England said Valanet beat both Lorestas Trumpauskas and Larry Trumpauskas, including a 14-12 deciding-set win over Lorestas. Sellado and Kingham also recorded five-set victories over Shaquille Webb-Dixon.
Those three clean sweeps created the sets advantage that put BATTS above Ormesby despite the teams sharing perfect records. It is an early but tangible edge in a league in which both clubs navigated the first four rounds without dropping a team match.
Ormesby remain unbeaten as Hurricane Kingsway impress
Ormesby’s opening match brought a 5-2 win over DHS Hurricane Kingsway, although Table Tennis England said the champions were challenged throughout. Guillaume Alcayde won twice for the newcomers, including a 3-1 result over David McBeath, while Enio Mendes secured the Ormesby victory by beating Matthew Dodds.
The champions followed that result by whitewashing Nottingham 7-0, then defeating eBaTT 6-1. Ben Piggott claimed two five-set wins in the latter fixture, over Asgedom and Kacper Piwowar.
North Ayrshire pushed Ormesby to a deciding match in the final round. Billy Shilton’s 12-10 fifth-set victory over Piggott forced the decider, but Mendes beat Joe Mulhern 3-0 in match seven to preserve Ormesby’s unbeaten start.
DHS Hurricane Kingsway, meanwhile, recovered from their defeat to Ormesby with wins over Fusion, Nottingham and Ormeau. Alcayde remained unbeaten across his Premier Division debut weekend, according to Table Tennis England, while Gary Dodd completed a maximum in the 5-2 victory over Ormeau.
The promoted side’s three wins put them directly behind the two unbeaten clubs in the early table. Table Tennis England reported that Hurricane Kingsway will face BATTS in round six during the second weekend, providing the third-placed side with an early meeting against the leaders.
Elsewhere, eBaTT and Fusion each ended the weekend on eight points after two wins. Ormeau were sixth, while North Ayrshire and Nottingham were still seeking their first team victory. Table Tennis England reported that Nottingham’s only individual match win came when James Hobson beat Dodd.
