Wilson survived Craigie’s late recovery

Wilson made breaks of 54, 95 and 98 while building his lead. Sam Craigie then reduced the deficit to 5-3 with a century break of 100 and continued to force the match towards a deciding frame. In the tenth frame, Craigie accidentally sent the cue ball into a pocket and gave Wilson another opening.

The eleventh frame remained tense because both players missed chances. Wilson finally completed the 6-5 win and reached the 19th ranking final of his career. He also won this event in 2024, so he has already lifted the Alex Higgins Trophy in Belfast.

Jones recovered after Williams led 4-1

Mark Williams moved 4-1 ahead but missed the yellow when he had a chance to lead 5-1. Jones won three frames to level the match at 4-4. Williams took the ninth, then Jones made a break of 89 in the tenth and won the deciding frame for another 6-5 result.

Jones has already won the Championship League and the British Open in 2026. He now has the chance to claim a third title of the season. He said the missed yellow at 4-1 gave him belief that the match was still recoverable.

The final repeats the 2024 World Championship contest

Wilson beat Jones 18-14 in the 2024 World Championship final and has won six of their previous seven meetings. Wilson therefore brings the stronger direct record, while Jones arrives after proving again that he can recover from a large deficit.

The first session starts at 13:00 GMT and the second at 19:00. The first player to win nine frames receives 100,000 pounds; the runner-up receives 45,000. Wilson described his scoring as strong but his closing play as uneven, while Jones said patience would be essential against an opponent who has repeatedly beaten him.
