McGinn hit the bar from the penalty spot
Villa received a penalty in the 16th minute after Sander Berge handled the ball. John McGinn struck the crossbar, leaving the match goalless and allowing Fulham to escape without conceding.

Suzuki then saved from Oscar Bobb in the 32nd minute. The goalkeeper’s intervention kept the score level, although his afternoon would later turn in the opposite direction.
Jackson scored for a fifth straight league match
Nicolas Jackson put Villa ahead in the 39th minute after receiving a pass from Johan Manzambi. It was the striker’s fifth goal in five consecutive Premier League appearances.
Fulham still carried a threat and finished the game with around 2.2 expected goals and 40 touches in the opposition penalty area. Those figures did not match the idea of a passive visiting attack.
Fulham equalised through Suzuki’s own goal
Alex Iwobi delivered a corner in the 64th minute and Suzuki dropped the ball into his own net. The goalkeeper had made an important first-half save, but the error gave Fulham the equaliser.
The goal reflected the visitors’ sustained presence around the box. Fulham did not need to rely on one counterattack; they repeatedly reached positions from which a set piece or loose ball could matter.
Torres missed a late chance to restore the lead
Pau Torres had an opportunity to win the match in the closing stages but could not convert. The chance was Villa’s final route to recovering from the own goal.
The 1-1 result leaves Villa regretting both the missed penalty and the late opening. Fulham earned the point by creating enough pressure to punish a mistake and by remaining dangerous after Jackson’s goal.
