Two different mistakes produced the first-half goals
The opening goal followed a United error and Ayden Heaven’s foul. Justin Kluivert delivered the free-kick and Rayan scored in the 38th minute. It was a set-piece goal, not a general counter-attack created in open play.

Bournemouth made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute after Leny Yoro lost the ball. Adrien Truffert supplied the pass and Tavernier finished the move. The visitors therefore reached half-time with a two-goal lead built from two separate situations.
Evanilson added the third after the interval
United tried to push higher in the second half, but Bournemouth kept finding space when they won the ball. Lewis Cook recognised one of those moments and played the pass that released Evanilson in the 71st minute.
The forward lifted the ball over Senne Lammens to make it 3-0. Bournemouth did not need to describe every goal as a counter-attack: the first came from a free-kick, the second from a loss of possession and the third from Cook’s direct pass.
United remain one point above the relegation zone
Manchester United are 16th with seven points after eight Premier League matches. They sit one point above the relegation zone, so the defeat adds immediate pressure before a demanding league schedule.
Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool are United’s next Premier League opponents. A European fixture also falls between those domestic matches. Bournemouth leave Old Trafford with a clean result and three goals created through different types of attack. The league position gives United little time to recover: one more poor result could place the club inside the bottom three. Bournemouth, by contrast, can use the away win as proof that their pressure and direct passing work against a side trying to build from the back.
