Van Gool scored in the sixth minute
Van Gool dispossessed Sophie Harwood inside the Sheffield United half and stayed composed in front of goal. Her finish into the far corner gave Everton an early advantage.

It was the midfielder’s first goal for Everton. She also helped the visitors recover possession high up the pitch during the opening phase.
Mouchon made it 2-0 seven minutes later
Van Gool created the second goal with a low cross. Goalkeeper Sophie Hillyerd could only push the ball into Mouchon’s path, and the striker finished for her second goal in two matches.
Mouchon nearly scored again before half-time when she met another Van Gool delivery from a narrow angle. Her powerful shot struck the post.
Academy players received senior minutes
Hannah Cain fired narrowly wide in the 75th minute after Aurora Galli found her on the wing. Debutant Amy Pracy then tested the goalkeeper with a shot on target in the 80th minute, while Divine Obida also made her first senior appearance.
Foster-Inman produced an important save in the 85th minute, standing up to block Abbie Jones after the attacker broke through the Everton defence.
Willis scored too late to alter the result
Lucy Willis entered in the 85th minute and pulled one goal back for Sheffield United in the first minute of stoppage time. Everton managed the remaining moments and completed a third victory in three Subway Players Cup matches.
Everton had already beaten Birmingham City and Newcastle United 2-0, giving them nine points from three matches. They next face Manchester United at Goodison Park on 31 October at 12:45.
