Spurs controlled the ball but Kinsky made key saves
Tottenham were the more active side rather than a team waiting only for a mistake. Antonin Kinsky saved attempts from Palmer, Henderson and Pedro Neto. At the other end, Omar Marmoush missed a good opening in the 29th minute as Spurs tried to turn their possession into a lead.

James Maddison was injured and replaced by Conor Gallagher in the 51st minute. Chelsea also lost Martinez and Joao Pedro to injuries. The changes affected both midfields, but Tottenham continued to move the ball through the centre and finished with more than twice as many attempts as the hosts.
A corner produced the own goal
Enzo Fernandez delivered the corner in the 77th minute. Jan Paul van Hecke challenged in front of goal, and Penders tried to punch the ball clear. The goalkeeper instead sent it into his own net. Chelsea had conceded an eighth goal from a set piece this season.
Palmer had been booked in the 71st minute and received a second yellow in the 80th for another late challenge. His dismissal was the 100th Chelsea red card in Premier League history. Penders became only the second Chelsea goalkeeper to score a Premier League own goal.

Tel completed Tottenham’s first clean win here since 1986
Tel collected the ball on the left, carried it past the defence and drove a shot into the far corner in the 87th minute. The solo goal secured Tottenham’s second consecutive win. The expected-goals figures were 0.43 for Chelsea and 0.74 for Spurs, while the shot count was 7-15.
Tottenham rose to 12th and won at Stamford Bridge for the first time since 2018. It was their first league victory there without conceding since 1986. Roberto De Zerbi praised the control shown before the goals, while Xabi Alonso pointed to the own goal, the red card and repeated set-piece problems as the reasons Chelsea lost the closing phase.
