James opened the scoring before Vinberg replied
Lauren James put Chelsea ahead in the 25th minute. She carried the ball to the byline and finished from a narrow angle. Tottenham continued to press instead of dropping into a deeper block, and their response arrived four minutes before half-time.

Julie Blakstad crossed towards the far post and Matilda Vinberg headed in from close range. The 1-1 score reflected a competitive first half: Chelsea had produced the better individual finish, but Tottenham had stayed organised and used their best spell to equalise.
Three goals in nine minutes changed the match
Alyssa Thompson drove into the area and cut the ball back for Carpenter to restore Chelsea’s lead in the 58th minute. James added her second four minutes later after receiving the ball from Lucy Bronze and running at a retreating defence.
Sjoeke Nusken, introduced from the bench, made it 4-1 in the 67th minute. Chelsea had scored three times in nine minutes and removed the uncertainty that remained at half-time. New captain Erin Cuthbert also came on for her first appearance of the season after returning to the squad.

Hamano and Carpenter completed the late scoring
Hamano scored Chelsea’s fifth in the 86th minute with a long-range shot against her former club. Signe Gaupset immediately pulled one back for Tottenham after taking advantage of a loose pass, but the visitors did not have enough time to build another comeback.
Carpenter scored again in added time after a pass from Keira Walsh. Her second goal completed the 6-2 result and gave Chelsea four different scorers. The decisive period was the start of the second half: Tottenham had matched Chelsea before the break, but could not stop the rapid sequence created by Thompson, James and Nusken.
