Bournemouth win their first European home match 3-0 against Sturm Graz

Bournemouth beat Sturm Graz 3-0 in the first European match staged at the Vitality Stadium. Evanilson opened the scoring before half-time, Rayan added the second and Álvaro Rodríguez converted a late penalty to complete a controlled Europa League victory.

Evanilson gave the pressure a result

Bournemouth controlled territory during the first half but still needed a clean finish before the match could open. Evanilson scored in the 43rd minute, rewarding the home side for keeping the ball close to Sturm’s penalty area instead of forcing shots from poor positions.

The goal also changed the visitors’ task. Sturm could no longer protect a compact block and wait for a counterattack. More players had to move forward after the interval, leaving wider gaps behind the first line of pressure.

The second goal removed Sturm’s route back

Rayan made it 2-0 in the 76th minute after Bournemouth had resisted the visitors’ best period. The home side did not retreat to the edge of its own box after scoring. It continued to contest the midfield and reduced the number of direct attacks reaching the centre-backs.

Rodríguez then scored from the penalty spot in added time. The third goal made the score emphatic, but the more important detail was the clean sheet. Bournemouth managed the final phase without giving Sturm a sequence of chances.

Two wins give Bournemouth an excellent start

The result follows an away victory at Real Sociedad and leaves Bournemouth with two wins from two Europa League matches. A strong opening does not secure qualification, but it gives the club room to handle a more difficult night without immediately falling behind in the league phase.

For a first European home fixture, the performance was measured rather than frantic. Bournemouth scored at useful moments, kept their structure and gave the occasion a result that matched its importance.
